Golden Miles by Healing Force - Golden Anniversary

Donation protected
Three things:
1. Golden Miles by Healing Force turned 50 years old in 2021.
2. Lindsay Wells needs a new rental pad thanks to COVID19 and the Perth rental crisis.
3. Donators will be able to purchase a limited edition Golden Anniversary 7" vinyl single of "Golden Miles b/w The Gully".

The band features Lindsay, the GoFundMe team and an all star line-up of friends here in Perth.

In 1971 Healing Force released the 'Golden Miles b/w The Gully' single on Sparmac Records. Fifty years later, the single is still considered one of the finest releases in Oz Rock music history. Healing Force and the success of 'Golden Miles' ended almost as soon as it began due to various circumstances and dodgy management. Consequently, guitarist and 'Golden Miles' songwriter Lindsay Wells never earned much at all from the song's success back in 1971, or to this day.

To celebrate the Golden Anniversary of Golden Miles, we ask you to make a donation to this campaign to help Lindsay Wells secure a rental lease by raising around $10,000. Think of it as being a 'Royalty' that he never received rather than a 'Charity' donation.  The song means a lot to so many people, perhaps more now than when it was released 50 years ago.

Lindsay, now in his 70s, plays better than ever and his enthusiasm and vitality would put men half his age to shame.  He just needs a suitable place so he can get back to being a guitar legend and resume his sideline work of teaching guitar and repairing guitars.

When COVID19 hit in 2020, the pandemic all but destroyed the live music scene both locally and nationwide. Performing had always been Lindsay's main source of income.  Like the rest of Australia, Perth rental prices skyrocketed and property availability ground to a halt. Basically, it has been impossible to get a house anywhere, for anyone. Unfortunately in 2021, Lindsay had to move out of his Swanbourne house where he had lived for the best part of two decades.

He is currently living in temporary accommodation and has his possessions in storage.  These include his workshop tools and machinery, guitars, amps, more guitars, stereos etc. as well as an extraordinary collection of records, magazines, posters and other rock'n'roll paraphernalia from the 1960s to the present day.

About me and Martin
My name is Dan. I suggested a GoFundMe campaign after hearing about Lindsay's situation from my mate Martin, who has been Lindsay's good friend and fishing buddy for more than 40 years. At age 53, I am the young hot-shot tech guy with mad computer skills. Martin, in his 60s, is the successful semi-retired businessman who will be responsible for controlling the money and distributing any funds that this campaign raises in an appropriate manner.

We are both mad keen guitarists who decided to help Lindsay out whether he liked it or not! Note that at present, the donation page says that it is in support of 'Dan Jarvis' since Lindsay has not yet joined GoFundMe as a beneficiary.

The hundreds of comments on Youtube say it all:

• One of the best Australian singles ever.
• This is the best Aussie song of all-time.
• Should have been a world wide hit.
• One of a kind song straight from the heart … Pure joy.
• Can't add to your assessment, spot on, it's a masterpiece.
• Golden Miles, what a fantastic memory ... What a line up of talent.
• For me, this is THE one single that I feel is, overall, my most memorable from my youth.
• All time greatest single. A phenomenal, soulful recreation of all that was wonderful about the era.
• I'm not Australian but some say that this should be the unofficial Aussie national anthem.
• A very special part of Australian music history.

...and many, many more.

Lindsay has had a long and successful career as an Australian blues guitar legend playing with Healing Force, Chain, Blackfeather as well as Renee Geyer and Sanctuary, the band that supported Eric Clapton on his ill-fated 1975 tour where EC collapsed on stage and had to be brought back to life...but that's another story.  So is the one about his super rare Stevie Ray Vaughan style Stratocaster.  See the video links below.
