Golden Aya’s E + STEAM (English, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) after-school program is called the best after-school program in Arusha. “I have never seen anything like this before,” said a parent of one of our students.
Due to Tanzania’s low budget for education, many of its children are not afforded access to quality education. Golden Aya has selected 36 disadvantaged students to participate in our hands-on learning after-school program. Golden has designed our program to be educational and enjoyable. Some of our students even claim that our after-school program is more fun than playing sports.
At Golden Aya, students practice their typing, coding, mathematics, and entrepreneurship skills. Our students also participate in science and engineering project-based learning like sketching blueprints, building simple machines, microscope usage, plant growth, and much more! With our art program, students can express their creativity, push their limits, and build confidence.
English has become the global language of business, so we dedicate one hour each day to improving our student’s English literacy. This way, they will grow and compete in the 21st-century corporate world.
Golden Aya is a pan-African organization, so we want our students to strive for self-sufficiency. Within our literature, we introduce pan-African leaders like Marcus Garvey, Martin Delany, and Kwame Nkrumah. We also teach our students about black people who made achievements in science and technology like Katherine Johnson, Gladys West, and William Kamkwamba.
The whole purpose of our E + STEAM program is to build a generation of innovative black children that will grow up to take leadership roles in developing their own communities and nations. With the skills they receive in STEAM education backed by pan-African principles, Golden Aya is putting our students on the right track to success!
