Golden Age at Lambeth Fringe

Bad Faith Theatre Company is a group of newly graduated international theatre artists. We are driven by our love of physical theatre, devised collaboration, and creating bridges to subjects that are underrepresented. Nearly all members of the company moved to the UK to pursue their artistic goals and wish to share their perspectives in the theatre scene here. We hope to create productions that all members of society can see themselves reflected in, that they feel challenged by, and that drive them to connect beyond the walls of the theatre.

We are fundraising for our first production, Golden Age, which has been selected to be a part of The Lambeth Fringe. Golden Age is a devised production written and performed by Shelby Corley, Tatianna Nicholle Davis, Michelina DeVeas, Carolina Emidio, Manley Gavich, Page Mardell, Catherine Mieses, Audrey Parry, Jayant Singh. Directed by Manley Gavich, with original music by Vincent Mont.

Golden Age is a play with music that tells the story of two estranged siblings coping with their mother’s Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Ev and Alba come to meet each other on their own terms as their mother's disease progresses. Their journey is accompanied by a fantastical cabaret of characters who showcase their mother as she was before falling ill. Inspired by ragtime heavy hitters and old school slapstick comedy, characters like cabaret singer Miss Lava Mae, the zany double act Squeak and Squawk, and a tap dancing emcee, all color the bleak world the siblings find themselves in.

Most people have some connection to Alzheimer’s and yet our complicated and nuanced relationship with this disease is rarely explored or depicted on stage. With Golden Age, we aim to give a voice to the difficult feelings which accompany that relationship.

The first version of this play was created in collaboration with the University of Essex, East 15 and performed at their Corbett Theatre on 5th of October 2023. We were extremely fortunate to have the university's support in creating the first iteration of the show. But now, as we no longer have that, we are attempting to put on the production on our own and could use your help!

Any and all donations will go towards making our solo venture of this production the best it can possibly be. Your donations will help contribute to costs such as props, set, costumes, rehearsal space, promotional items, professionally recording the show, technician wages, and more.

Any donation helps and we look forward to seeing you in the audience for Golden Age on 24th of September at 8:30pm at The Golden Goose Theatre as part of The Lambeth Fringe!
