The clock is ticking and I need your help ASAP in funding my first film. In return, I'm giving donors a bunch of stuff, including equity in my next film project. Learn more below.
THE GOLD DIGGER STORY:
A WEALTHY BACHELOR DISCOVERS HIS CAPTIVATING DATE IS OUT FOR MORE THAN A GOOD TIME AS THEIR TRIP INTO REMOTE COUNTRY TURNS APOCALYPTICALLY DARK IN MORE WAYS THAN ONE.
Okay, here’s the deal, the title of the film and the logline above are intended to misdirect the viewer. Yes, these elements are present, but I’m hiding what lies at the heart of the film in an effort to protect the plot twist of this gritty drama.
The current Gold Digger script is approximately 20 pages, and my expectation is the final cut will run between 17 and 23 minutes long.
There are four primary characters in the story: Brennan (a rich playboy who’s absolutely out of control), Mazzy (an alluring yet quirky young woman who convinces Brennan to go on a weekend getaway), Mother (Brennan’s mother and family matriarch), and the Sheriff (he’s a cop).
To protect the concept, I’m not going to publicly share much about the film, so I need you to trust that I’m creating something engaging. If you absolutely want to read the script before donating, contact me directly.
WHY MAKE THIS FILM?
In the late ’80s, I was that kid with a VHS camera constantly over my shoulder, barking orders at my friends as I directed the dumbest skits you could imagine. The only thing I wanted to do was make films.
I did manage to write screenplays for four feature films, two shorts, and two episodes of a series, but I’ve never directed or attempted to sell any of them.
But, as some of you know, I got distracted by a record deal with Virgin/EMI back in 2000 and went down the music rabbit hole for years. Why stay focused on film when I’m going to be a rock star, right? Wrong.

Now I’m all grown up but somehow forgot to do the one thing I always intended to do: MAKE A DAMN MOVIE. Producing Gold Digger will fulfill a life goal for me, and every dollar donated makes it possible.
WHO ARE THE OTHER KEY PEOPLE INVOLVED?
Jim Timperman (Cinematographer)
I met Jim on the set of his first feature film more than 20 years ago, as I did some art direction for the project. Jim has gone on to shoot 39 films, including Dead Draw (2016) which won awards at multiple festivals and received a distribution deal. He repeatedly pushed me to make a film over the years. I wouldn’t make this film without his input, guidance, and proven talent behind the camera.

Andy Ahrens (Actor/Lead “Brennan” and Co-Producer)
It was through Jim Timperman that I met Andy, as they worked together on several films, including Dead Draw. You may have seen Andy on Chicago Fire (TV series) or the other series or films. He is an incredible talent and we’re very lucky to have him on board.

HOW ARE WE SPENDING YOUR MONEY?
If we can reach our donation goal of $19,500 (USD), we are a “go” for filming this winter!
Funding helps pay for:
• Six days of filming (cast and crew fees, catering, location fees)
• Equipment rentals and expenses (cranes, drones, and other must-haves)
• Travel expenses and lodging
• Production insurance and location permits
• Scoring, editing, color correction
• Website development, content production
Hitting our stretch goal of $30,000 (USD) allows us to produce this film with significantly higher production value, including:
• Better/additional equipment!
• More crew!
• Three additional b-roll film days!
• Behind the scenes content!
• A very small but meaningful promotion budget!
