Going to the ESU National Shakespeare Competition

Hi, this is Charis.

This year I will represent both Valeo Academy and the Chicago region at the English-speaking Union’s National Shakespeare Competition, which will be held in New York City, on April 15. I am competing against 43 other students, who won their regional championships this Spring.

The weekend of April 15, I will attend a workshop with professional Broadway actors, take a bus tour of the city, tour Juilliard, see a Broadway play, and perform at Lincoln Center in the finals of the ESU’s competition. This will bring national exposure to Valeo Academy and our Shakespeare program.

The ESU has already covered the cost of my airfare and events. We anticipate that the additional expenses for the trip, including meals, hotel, and transportation around New York City for me and my coaches, will be $1500.

Competing in the ESU Shakespeare Competition at Lincoln Center in New York is a once-in-a-lifetime honor. Any small amount would be appreciated if you would like to help support me on this trip.
