Going to the Biennale

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Meryl Taradash. I am an award- winning female Kinetic Sculptor living in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. My Instagram handle is @Taradashstudio and my website is https://www.meryltaradash.com I currently support myself by teaching at City University of New York and Saint Peters University in NJ.

I recently received a once-in-a lifetime invitation to be part of this year’s Venice Biennale in April 2022. I was both surprised and thrilled to be invited to show my work in this prestigious and exclusive event. Sisyphus, my wind-driven sculpture for the Personal Structures Exhibition was immediately accepted to show in the Time, Space and Existence display adjacent to the main Biennale this spring.

This is the second time the Biennale has reached out to me for my work. Unfortunately, in 2017 there was no way for me to accept the invitation as I did not have the financial support required. However, this time felt different. After living through a year + of Covid, and my mom almost dying, a small voice inside of me said the clock was ticking and this opportunity might never come again.

I knew I had to be bold so I accepted the European Cultural Center’s invitation without yet having my funding in place. Currently I am doing everything I can to secure support to make this dream of mine come true. My deadline to procure the funds to get Sisyphus to the Biennale is the End of January.

Would you please consider helping me by donating towards its shipping and installation? Any support of the project will enable you to take a tax donation via the 501(c)3 status.

By donating to my project, I will be able to present my wind-driven sculpture Sisyphus which unites the unpredictability of nature in its random movement with its reflective design. It features four Mobius loops framing what appears to be an infinity symbol, but just like in life, all is not as it seems. The lines do not truly meet: they reach, but fall short of making a connection. I offer this timely objective as a positive opportunity to strive forward in living each day.

I have been able to do extraordinary things in my career with very limited financing, and I am proud of what I have created, but this opportunity is beyond a dream come true and I cannot pass it up, nor can I do it alone. I am hoping you will consider helping me show my work internationally for the first time, and celebrate a lifetime of work creating sculptures that utilize Light and Wind.
