Going to Croatia to help with sustainability

Hi, my name is Lily Baker and I am 12 years old . I have been chosen along with 17 other girls in the North West from Girlguiding to travel to Croatia to learn and be involved in a charity that collects plastic from the sea and turns it into jewellery and other reusable items.

I am very passionate about nature and animals. When learning about the devastation that dumped waste in the sea causes to our sea creatures, i felt i wanted to be involved in finding ways to help.

The impact that dumping rubbish in the sea is hazardous to sea life. The birds and mammals are consuming the plastic or becoming entangled in it. It is estimated that by 2050, 90% of all species of seabirds will be eating plastic and 95% of all individual seabirds will fall victim the the harmful effects of consuming plastic. This is devastating.

The reason for my gofundme is that I need to raise £1500 through fundraising to pay for my travel, uniform and experiences in Croatia. I will be raising these funds in all different ways. I will be having bake sales, selling jewellery and lots of other activities. I hope you can support me along my journey.
