Hi, my name is Alex Radcliffe, I run the Youtube Channel BoardGameCo (you probably know all this if you're here but let's do it anyway). Over the past several years I've been putting out videos on my channel, reviews, kickstarter coverage, top 10 lists, topical conversations and more. And now, for the first time, I'm stepping away from my day job to do this full time.
It's scary, but also exciting. More exciting than scary honestly. I love this hobby, I love board games, the people within the hobby, talking about games, playing games, watching videos about games...honestly I probably just have a problem. But doing this full time seems like a good outlet for that problem.
As part of going full time with this, I've focusing on many areas but one of those areas is bridging the gap between income and expenses. Not a large gap, I've been very fortunate in that sense, that I can walk off this ledge onto a short drop as opposed to a devastating fall. Some of that will just be over time as the channel grows, other parts are through Patreon where you can sign up here if that's a better location for you.
The point of this GoFundMe is less about ongoing expenses and more about covering around $4500 worth of expenses to get new equipment for the channel, stuff I want to start spending more time on now that this is full time. You can watch the video for more of a breakdown, but they're all listed here as well:
4x128 gb card - $120 - https://bhpho.to/3JHKZNg
EcoTank ET 4760 - $500 - https://bhpho.to/3vav0lm
Panasonic Lumix GH5S - $1900 - https://bhpho.to/3EccGfM
Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 8-18mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. Lens - $1000 - https://bhpho.to/3M2At4O
Sony ZV-1 - $750 https://bit.ly/3KCDuIC
It all totals around $4270, less potential tax or shipping or whatever. I don't expect to raise that all in this GoFundMe, honestly, the support I've received already since announcing my transition to full time, has been more than I could have asked for and I'm incredibly grateful as it is.
Thank you.
