The educational outcomes for the Routes to Resilience Go for Gold class of 2020 have been dramatically affected by covid which has meant significant loss of schooling time in South Africa in their final year. These young students - all 53 of them - are the first in their families to have a clear line of sight into attending university and developing rewarding professional careers in disciplines related to urban built environments. Their participation in the Resilient Futures programmes has been a signifcant part of their jouney, enabling them to marry plans for careers in the built environment with a deep knowledge of systems and sustainability in practice.
To help them "catch up" on all they have missed in this their last year of school I want to enable them to undertake a deep residential immersion programme in the systems and surroundings of the Grootbos Nature Reserve. As in previous years, this unique experience will help them complete their 2020 Routes to Resilience programme and be well positioned not only to thrive in their own futures but to contribute positively to those of their communities. There will be two groups participating over 3.5 days.
We need just £256 per person.
Thanks to the sweet-hearted kindness and generosity of my dad we need just half of this. He has made it possible for each student to just need £128 to participate (with a minimum of 20 students in each group).
Please help if you can. I know we all are under huge pressure in our personal and professional lives and we all have a family / community ecosystem that we are already supporting. But if you can do just one more thing, please join me in making this possible. HUGE thanks.
