Going Bananas Trying to Save Monkey!

Monkey Pie, or Monkey for short, was rescued from the euthanasia list in October of 2023 at Dekalb County Animal Services*** in Atlanta, GA. Emily Nance and Jillian Wagenheim have been co-fostering him since that time - and he has made incredible progress - JUST LOOK AT THOSE BEFORE and AFTER PHOTOS!

But....WE STILL HAVE MORE WORK TO DO!

Unfortunately, neither can keep him long-term. Fortunately, a wonderful person has stepped up to keep Monkey from having to go back to the shelter for the next week (February 29 - March 7) which gives us a chance to do some fundraising and help him further.

While there has been interest, a few of his quirks - poor leash manners, chasing cars, and barrier frustration - are keeping him from finding the perfect foster or forever home.

We would like give Monkey the best shot at finding the perfect place to land - hopefully for good! A month's-worth of board and train will give us the chance to get him the skills he needs and the time to continue advocating on his behalf.

UPDATE: Thank you all for helping us raise the initial funds we needed, unfortunately the trainer we thought we would use is booked up and we are looking into other options. Those other options are proving to be more costly. We have reset the amount for $3000.00 as all other options are between 2500 - 4400 for a month. Again all funds that aren't used, will be used to help another dog who needs training.

Thank you for continuing to help this guy as we think he's so special and deserves to live a LONG, happy life where he can just, well, monkey-around ;)

You can also follow his journey on FB and IG at BlueEyeMonkeyPie! We'd LOVE people to share his content and get him seen by potential adopters.

***Any amount over and above our goal, will be applied to other animals at Dekalb County Animal Shelter that need additional training to get adopted. DCAS is currently in crisis. There are almost 600 at the shelter which was only built to hold 400. Wonderful dogs are being put down simply for room, not because they are sick or unfit for homes.
