Going Bald for the Laois SPCA
My 'lockdown' mop is in need of a chop so please help us make it worthwhile!
We have all been affected in some way or another by the current crisis and have also seen some extraordinary dedication by frontline and essential/key workers. People have shown immense generosity whether it be through supporting friends or neighbours and reaching out to those most in need through emotional support, supplying essential items or financially where they can.
Businesses are struggling and people have or face losing their jobs. This has affected all aspects of business and charities and has created really anxious and uncertain times for many. Most charities are struggling and are on their knees as their local charity shops remain closed, their fundraising efforts are halted as are individuals who fundraise through sporting events, gathering and so on to support them.
As some of you know, our house is home to many rescued 4-legged family members and we would have more if we could! Currently 4 dogs and 2 cats (and a Snail Sanctuary and a Tadpole habitat)!! We support our local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (Laois) and our local Rescues as best we can but feel its just not enough in the current climate. Our plans of raising funds through running and hill walking peak challenges have been halted with my continued ankle condition with my 3rd surgery being postponed due to the pandemic.
So, in the meantime, what can I do? What would involve the kids, give them a giggle and perhaps a gasp of shock before they laugh again? Shave Mama's head!!
Yes, the kids would love if ye could sponsor them to shave my head (ever so gently by all accounts) with all monies raised going to the Laois SPCA who are in desperate need of financial support to continue to rescue, care for the ever flowing number of animals in urgent need of their help, veterinary care, fostering, day to day bills and finding their forever home.
We would be so appreciative if you could spare a euro or two towards this amazing charity, to help the volunteers keep helping all of the animals coming into and who are in their care.
** Photographs/Video will be taken of the two 'hairdressers' with their scissors and clippers in action!
