Goggins Challenge - Wounded Warrior & Jump$tart

Hello everyone, my name is Brock Briggs and on March 5, I will be participating in the Goggins Challenge to raise money and awareness for the Wounded Warrior Project and the Jump$tart Coalition.

The Goggins Challenge, inspired by retired Navy SEAL David Goggins, involves running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours (4x4x48). The challenge begins at 9 pm mountain time on March 5 and ends at 9 pm on March 7. 

In Goggins' book "Can't Hurt Me", he talks about the overcoming of his poor upbringing and learning to truly master his own mind in becoming who he was meant to be. Since concluding my time in the Navy, I have been in pursuit of the same goal and that's why I am inspired to undertake this challenge to bring awareness to causes I care about. It has been in this pursuit I have identified the two things I am most passionate about. The first is helping veterans get the support and care they need.  Since exiting the military, I have seen firsthand the need to support veterans, particularly ones wounded in some way shape, or form. The Wounded Warrior Project offers peer and family support, physical recovery, and help seeking counseling for any veteran that has suffered a physical or mental injury or illness. I'm proud to be a veteran and want to do everything in my power to help those that are struggling.

The second thing I am most passionate about is helping teach financial literacy. The lack of financial education in schools has not equipped our country's young people with the resources and knowledge they need to lead a successful financial life. Since exiting the military and returning to college to get my degree in finance, I have recognized the importance of this and have made it my mission to help spread financial literacy. The Jump$tart Coalition is a nonprofit that helps equip educators with the knowledge and resources they need to teach financial literacy in schools. We need to start making sound financial decisions at a young age and I believe Jump$tart is making that difference.

My goal is to raise $2000, $1000 for both of these outstanding organizations that are making a true impact on important causes. That said, there are 3 ways you can participate with me in this goal.

1. Do the challenge with me! I realize this is a big challenge and won't be for most - if you are up to it, reach out to me and let's do it together!

2. Support the cause by donating. I'm launching this February 14 which gives us 3 weeks to raise $2000. Any amount is helpful - let's get it raised!

3. Sharing! If you're unable to donate, that's okay! If you're unable to donate financially, but still want to help, please share this post on your Facebook/other social media and with your family and friends. The more eyes we can put on this the better which is what this is truly about - awareness. The money will help, but more people being tuned into these causes is the true goal.
