Help Burt Dreisch; a victim of a brutal attack.

Hi, my name is Belinda, and I am the wife of Burt Dreisch, who was BRUTALLY attacked while delivering mail for the USPS.

 

July 15, 2020, was a typical day delivering the US mail until my husband, Burt, age 78 at the time, was approached by a man on his route. The man began to scream at him, then proceeded to lean into the mail truck and threw a box, then an entire tray of mail at Burt’s head. Burt and this man always exchange pleasantries, so he was unsure what was wrong. Burt exited the mail truck to try and talk, but the man began to scream obscenities and accused Burt of not doing his job. He became furious and started VIOLENTLY punching Burt in the face and head, knocking him to the ground. While Burt was down, the man started kicking him in the head and neck until a neighbor came running down her yard to stop the man from causing any more injuries to Burt. This kind witness called 911, and another witness across the street from where the violent incident occurred.

Burt sustained extensive injuries to his head, ear and neck. He's had neck surgery, lost the majority of his hearing in his right ear, and due to the brutality of the attack, exacerbated his Parkinson’s, where he now shakes uncontrollably. Burt has worked for the USPS for 20 years and barely missed a workday. He loved his job, his customers and their dogs, and whom he would get out and give treats. Burt loves to play pool and since this attack, his game has declined incredibly; how sad he is about his; however, he is unwilling to give the LOVE of his favorite sport up. 

The assault on Burt has caused our family to become so financially destitute that I am creating this GoFundMe Page to help save us. Burt has not received a paycheck since August 2020, and we are still fighting Workman’s Comp, almost daily and Unemplyment.  We have had to hire an attorney from NJ. to help us fight for Burt's rights.  It has been one nightmare after another! We will use 100% of the donated funds for food, bills, medical care, and survival. We survive on SSI, which doesn’t cover even half our bills, but with the kind donations we hope to receive, we are praying the stress soon can be decreased.  We have NEVER had to ask anyone to help us financially, but now we are scared, anxious, and stressed beyond belief, and at our age, we are supposed to be enjoying life, not fearing it, daily.

The VIOLENT SUSPECT in this case has been found GUILTY, TWICE.   We are awaiting the sentencing in September and hopeful Burt's attacker gets jail time!!!  During that time Burt will finally get to tell the judge how badly this attack has affected him and its impact on our family. This is truly unreal and causing Burt severe PTSD and anxiety.

NOTE:  The attacker created his OWN GoFundMe Page after he was arrested, and raised over $100k for his defense team.  He was untruthful and was telling everyone HE was the victim, and to donate to him to cover his legal fees and personal expenses.
