It’s almost a new school year and Team Backpack time again!!!  In our 12th year, we will be providing 2100 backpacks filled with school supplies and once again working with the wonderful non profit organization Playworks !    Playworks identifies and distributes the backpacks to needy children in over 70 schools in the Valley of the Sun in early August.  To show you how great the need is, one local elementary school last year had only 2 students of almost 800 come to school with the supplies necessary for them to learn!



Your financial donation of any amount will help fill a new backpack with grade K-6 specific supplies.  These supplies include: pencils, erasers, paper, notebooks, folders, pencil box, crayons, markers, colored pencils, glue sticks, glue, rulers, mechanical pencils, dry erase markers, highlighters, composition books, loose paper, and a toothbrush/toothpaste.  If you are a parent, you know well enough what the expense is for school supplies!   We are so fortunate to have Walmart sell us almost all the supplies at their lowest sale prices.  They also pack the items on pallets for us to pick up in bulk! Even with Walmart’s help, depending on the grade level, the cost of each filled backpack is nearing $15-$20!

For each $50 donation (up to the first 400 donations), we will mail you 2 Adult admission Harkins movie tickets as a special thank you!!  Please be sure to leave your mailing address on the Go Fund Me page (if you don't leave it we will assume you would rather we give the tickets to another donation enabling us to raise more funds!).  If you would like your check picked up (make out to Team Backpack)  please call Deb and let her know.
