Help Save Kari’s Life!

Kari Pride-Helm is the kind of person who drops everything to help a stranger in need. She is an exceptionally talented visual artist with a unique perspective that adds dimension and color to a world that is often dull and lifeless. She is the beloved wife of her wife Kris, mom to many a rescued animal, and a treasured friend to all who know her.  And, because life is exceptionally unfair, she’s battling cancer for the second time.  

Kris and Kari are so inspirational to me. Their love for one another is brilliant and unbreakable and truly unconditional. In a world that is increasingly unwilling to celebrate diversity, they stand as a fearless example that love is love, and nothing can stop it. Even cancer.

But here is the awful truth. My beautiful friends are already drowning in medical debt from Kari’s last round of surgery and treatment. And now they’ve been told they have to do it all again for Kari to have a chance to see their anniversaries, create more necessary art, and be the kind of friend to all of us that she has unfailingly been. 

So we need to be the friend to her that she’s always been to us! Kari can't do the work she loves right now, because she has to focus all her energy on healing. We need to get this campaign out to the far corners, share and donate, until she and Kris are able to focus on healing, and not worry about how to pay for food and heat and gas for their car. 

Having to choose between making a living and ACTUALLY LIVING is an insanity that should not happen in this country.
