Kathy Sawyer - medical assistance fund

We (Joey & Sherry McKenzie and Jean Prescott) started this campaign to help offset this financial burden the Sawyers will face over the next year or more.

As some of you may have heard, our beloved friend Kathy Sawyer has been diagnosed with some very serious health issues. She had not been feeling well and a trip to the hospital in early February found over a quart of fluid in her lung making breathing nearly impossible. In addition, the fluid added pressure to her heart which restricted its ability to function properly. She was hospitalised for several days and a diagnosis of ovarian cancer was confirmed. Kathy was fortunate to get in quickly with an oncologist, so a plan for surgery and chemotherapy is in place. She started chemotherapy April 5th. 
 
It's no surprise that Kathy's positivity, grace, humor, determination and love for family & friends is ever present - as is her strong faith as she negotiates what will be a challenging road ahead.
 
The Sawyers are absolutely some of the kindest, nicest, and most talented folks you could ever meet, and we're sure those of you who know them personally will wholeheartedly agree! They have generously given back to help others in need so many times over the years, and now it's our turn to step up for Kathy and the Sawyer family. 

Our goal is to raise enough money to cover expenses the Sawyer family will encounter on the difficult journey ahead.  The unavoidable loss of work - plus unforeseen medical needs that insurance does not cover, will only add to the financial burden and stress they will face now and in the future.

Kathy needs to take this time to rest and stay positive so we will keep folks updated here as things evolve.
