Coyote Attack- Help Iris get back to her babies!

Donation protected
*Update: She WILL require a second jaw surgery with the veterinary specialist in San Diego. Wires will need to be placed to help her jaw stabilize and heal properly. We are looking at an increased goal for raising funds, in the area of $5,000...but do not want to raise the goal until we have an estimate in our hands. PLEASE continue to share Iris' story in the hopes of getting more eyes on this. Thank you very much!!*

Hi, I'm Camilla. I've spent my whole life rescuing and taking care of animals. This is Iris. I saved her as one of two orphan kittens who were rejected by their litter and were being attacked. They wandered off together and came back smelling different. You know animals...

NOW, she's a mom to three beautiful boys, a close sister to her biological fellow orphan and her fellow dogmates, and one of the loves of my life. I can't imagine life without her, and now she's been hurt. Badly. Unimaginably.

She was attacked this morning (2/7) by a coyote or large dog. Her jaw is possibly broken and if so, will require extensive surgery. She's got severe head injuries, and that's just the superficial injuries we currently know of. We do not know yet how extensive these injuries are. All we know is she is breathing through a skewed jaw and running blood. We currently have her under pain management and wound care, but need to find the money to get her the real help she needs-a CT scan which will cost upwards of $1,500. PLUS surgery and aftercare that will be required if other injuries are found, IF the jaw IS broken, etc. The vets are worried about her losing her right eye, the tooth puncture marks in her ear and the roof of her mouth, and her ability to heal while getting little sustenance in the form of actual food. She is having an issue with breathing since her sinuses are completely stuffed with mucous and it is filling into her mouth where she is having to breathe from the puncture wounds. It's a mess, and not at all comfortable.

The longer we wait to get all of the necessary care, the longer until she can be truly "comfortable" and it hurts my heart and soul to see it and know more could be done. Finances and veterinary work are fickle things, and if they knew me personally they know I would move heaven and earth and everything else to pay for what she needs. I would direct deposit my entire weekly paycheck into the vet's own bank if they would allow it. But unfortunately, veterinarians don't offer services without full payment the same day.

We are currently raising funds for:

-Anesthesia for a CT scan (she will be able to have her jaw fixed at the same time IF the scan comes back as just a dislocation)
-Jaw wiring/surgery, feeding tube necessary if this happens
-Wound care for her nose, the bites in her mouth,  cleanup, and thorough checking of the body for more wounds.
- IV fluids
-Pain medications
-Antibiotics
-X rays and sedation
-POSSIBLE orthopedic surgery with a specialist in San Diego

I have personally liquidated all my assets...401ks, investments and stocks, previous retirement accounts. I'm nowhere near enough even after all of that and I am DESPERATE for your help, as is Iris. She needs to get back to taking care of her 3 baby boys!
This house is full of unconditional love, and sometimes that ends up costing money. Unfortunately, we are currently unable to come up with the funds because of previous extenuating circumstances with our medical issues. I'm chronically ill and immune-compromised, and my poor husband ends up with a lot of the grunt work because of it.

We are a small and humble family with 11 animals. It's my life's work to help animals and hoped to open an animal sanctuary outside the Chicago area.  This definitely sets us back, but with your help, we can do this. They are all we have and they are our family. Animals give unconditional love and you need to be able to match that and give unconditional love back.

If you can help at all, please do. Every penny counts, truly. We are beyond grateful for any help that can be sent our way, we just want to make sure Iris is comfortable and can come back home to her babies-and us. Bless <3
