Let's raise some funds to support our dear friend Maya Vega Garcia get back on her feet, after a tragic turn of events. Maya is recently local to the Port Townsend area and is a craftsperson of Puerto Rican and German descent. She is a talented upholstery worker who has spent the last year or so growing roots in the PT Boat Haven.

After experiencing the death of a close friend/community member, she was struck with the news that her mother had a brain aneurysm and slipped into a coma. Maya's mother lives in Germany, which makes this incredibly rough situation, one that she had to travel long distance for.

Maya will be taking the next month or so off of work, to be present and by her Mother's side in Germany. How can we show her support? One way is through financial assistance. She has expressed a need for help with travel expenses, such as plane tickets and general costs of goods while she is spending time out there. Maya is also personally seeing a doctor for a CT scan, to see if she has inherited the gene that caused her Mother's brain aneurysm. She is estimating that procedure will at least cost her $1000. Her rent and bills from her house and upholstery workshop still need to be paid while she is out of the country. I would love if we could throw in money to absolve her of any financial burden she is experiencing right now.
