Help Marina get to her new job in Ecuador

Donation protected
Hey all. My name is Marina Braga, from France. Until a few months ago I was studying in Bogotá, Colombia, as part of a uni exchange. From there I visited and applied to a job as a French teacher in Quito, Ecuador. I did not have much money saved but moving from Bogotá to Quito should have been fairly inexpensive, if I even got the job.

Well, I did get it - but from France. Indeed, the novel Coronavirus forced me to go back to my home country very quickly (leaving most of my stuff behind in Bogotá), thus draining the rest of my financial resources.

Moreover, getting back to France on such short notice meant moving back in with my mother. We have a very complicated relationship - I spent six years in the system as a teen and there are huge, unresolved conflicts between us. Things have been tense and have been rendered even more complicated by being stuck in the house, although she is an essential worker and is not always around.

Finding a job this summer is impossible. My usual summer job - camp counselor in a camp in Northern Spain - has been cancelled. I have frantically tried to find something in the village my mother lives in, but it's very small. I have also applied to hundreds of jobs in other parts of France that offer accomodation - not a single positive response. Moreover, I need a part-time job only as I am still writing my Master's thesis with a deadline for September.

Familial help is also a non-starter. My mother earns a minimum wage on a part-time job. What little she saves she spends on clothing for herself and then demands I pay her back for a four euro box of tampons (told you guys we had a complicated relationship but really the word is "toxic.")

Knowing I needed about 3000 dollars to move to Ecuador (visa, insurance, flights going through Bogotá for a couple of days to pick up my belongings + starting money), I resorted to selling nude videos and photos of myself as well as used underwear to men I find online. It has been the most exhausting month of my life. These men's demands are often humiliating. Their words are always degrading. The ones I have sent parcels too are the ones that scare me the most, though. They know the village I live in as I have been using its post office since I do not have a car. They know where I live and some of them are vocal about "wanting to fill all of my holes with seed." As a survivor of sexual assault in my teen years, I have become scared to set a foot outside.

I raised 500 euros in a month doing this. It is not worth my safety and peace of mind. Which is why I am asking for contributions up to 2500 euros for this move to complete the money I need:

- 325 euros: my visa will be 200 dollars (about 175 euros) and going to Paris and back to acquire it about 150 euros.
- 500 euros for flights from Paris to Bogotá to pick up my stuff and Bogotá to Quito
- 100 euros for the train to the airport in Paris
- 400 euros for my health insurance for a year in Ecuador
- the rest will be starting money as the university I will be working at will only start paying me in December even though my job starts in October

I hope you can spare a few euros/dollars/pounds/etc. Every little bit helps and I will definitely pay it forward when I get paid in December. Thank you everyone.
