Help Dom Pay for School!

Donation protected

Hello to the community!!!

My name is Marina, and I’ve started this fundraiser on behalf of my dear friend Dominique Davis. The goal here is simple: to help get Dom the $16,487 tuition she needs to attend the Elaine Sterling Institute to study to be a esthetician. Dom does not have independent or generational wealth to support her through this financial burden that education so often throws on people who can’t afford to pay outright- partial loans are the only option, plus a heavy $787.44 monthly payment for nine months. On top of living expenses and taking care of her kids, that’s a huge bill to have to figure out.

Dom is a Black woman. She is a single mother of two. She is passionate, shines so brightly, and deserves this opportunity to pursue something she loves. Self-care is a phrase we hear a lot, but who gets to take part and who gets to benefit from providing the service?

The wellness industry is overwhelmingly white, with practices co-opted, rebranded, and sold to the same demographic. To help Dom enter this industry is to help create a shift towards a more diverse, inclusive and genuinely holistic industry over all. These kinds of fundamental shifts are so important to help facilitate if you have the means to do so.

If we’ve learned anything this last year, it’s that centralized power doesn’t help us. In order to survive and grow as best we can, we need to continuously look to each other, and look out for each other as well. Mutual aid has been an incredibly powerful tool utilized, and helps people so much. The community has to take care of itself when there are no other options.

We need to support Black women in their dreams and goals. We owe Black women. We need to facilitate channel
s for them to flourish.
Schooling is expensive, but this fundraiser is absolutely achievable.

Dom is truly a pillar of our community and she shares her heart, soul, and energy with everyone. I truly encourage anyone who has been touched by that shine to help her in this. Anything at all helps- let’s get Dom this tuition fee so she can start off her career without the debt that can be so crippling and painful to get out from under!

With the deepest gratitude, thank you for your support
