MAJOR UPDATE: I HAVE PROCURED A CAR!!! A 2011 HYUNDAI SONATA LIMITED IS NOW TUCKED AWAY IN MY GARAGE!!!
THANK YOU TO ALL WHO HAVE HELPED!!! YOU MADE THIS HAPPEN!!!

I am still short on the taxes, tags, insurance, etc. This comes to $800. And, I am short on the the money for the car itself by $1,300. I am, down to the bottom of all resources.

Please help by contributing and sharing this post!

Thank you!

P. S. Anyone who donates $200 or more from this point forward will receive in the mail a giclee print of "Cathedral."

I have a compromised immune system, and multiple chemical sensitivities, among other conditions, and need a vehicle to get to, doctors, medical treatments, the grocery store and run errands.  I am on a low income, so I must use food stamps in-person at most stores.  A weakened immune system and multiple chemical sensitivity means I often cannot sit in friends' cars or ride sharing vehicles -- so without a car, daily life can be a real challenge for patients like me in the era of coronavirus.

My live-in personal care attendant left to take a cushier job. Once one adds in the pandemic issues, this leaves me in a desperate situation with no way to get to
doctor appointments, and getting supplies is extremely problematic.

I hope to get a car donated to me and use this Go Fund Me money for taxes, insurance, or to raise enough money here to buy a reliable car, and to have emergency money.

Here are some of the challenges to my situation:

Firstly, I have myalgic encephalitis/chronic fatigue syndrome, multiple chemical sensitivities, diabetes, arthritis, fibromyalgia, scar tissue on one of my lungs, spine damage and back pain, obesity, a weakened immune system, and a few other health issues. I suffer from frequent respiratory infections. I am an extremely high risk person should I contract covid-19, it would be difficult to survive.

Secondly, I have no car.  And, I have very little income.

This presents a multitude of problems. I am really feeling the pressure from my doctors to come in for a visit. I have no way to get to doctor appointments, now. I cannot and will not ride in share-a-fare cabs or any other cab during a pandemic. Even if someone would volunteer to take me, I would have to be in an enclosed vehicle for a half hour ride each way.

Most grocers will not take food stamps on line. So, I am unable to purchase and have
things delivered. If I can order and pay by phone I could pick up in
person and not have to enter the store.

My PCA and I did our best to stock me up on food and supplies, since the beginning of February. But, my cash flow is an issue. I buy a little bit extra every month. But, the truth is, I feel like I am being set out in the wilderness with supplies, while being told. “Good luck. Hope you make it.” I am frightened and alone.

If I had a car I could get to medical appointments and pick up supplies safely. I would not have to be in a car with another person.

I am asking, pleading for someone to donate a very reliable car to me. It is a matter of life and death. The type of car that would work best for me is a very reliable, small economy car with a hatchback. A hatchback is helpful with my back, so I do not have to try to get groceries and supplies out of the backseat. A compact car will fit in my small garage.

I have thought about the positive things I can do to survive the pandemic. I am starting a blog, Pandemic Painter. pandemicpainter.blogspot.com  You can read about my efforts to survive and hopefully to make art, in this pandemic.
