Join us in contributing to an Inclusive Society
Onda Solidária’s ECO social centre in Brazil is creating an inclusive society where everyone is treated equally irrespective of their differences. It is an educational and sports training centre that aims to provide vulnerable children and young people the opportunity to develop their personal skills, learn how to live a sustainable life and provide a model for inspiring social action across Brazil and the world. The new Solidarity Lodge will host children, youth, volunteers and guests from all over the world in Vila dos Sonhos and provide a calming space for people to live in harmony with nature.
We are a group of master's students from the Sports and Event Management Department of Bournemouth University conducting an event as part of our Live Events Unit under the guidance of Dr Sakis Pappous. We are hosting an Online Conference on, "Media's Portrayal of Paralympic Athletes" which will be held on the 7th of May 2021 online on Zoom.
The event is focused on creating an inclusive world and society which is exactly what Onda Solidária is doing. The purpose of the event is to promote discussion about disability, inclusion and equality which is in line with Onda Solidária's 3 pillars - Sports, Education and Environment
The event will serve as a platform where Paralympians and people with impairments can voice their views and suggestions on how they would like to be portrayed by different mass media in the forthcoming Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games. All the proceeds from the conference will be donated to ensuring that Vila dos Sonhos - the Village of Dreams is inclusive for all individuals with ramps, changing rooms etc.
Please join us and Onda Solidária in making a difference through the online Conference while listening to Paralympic athletes' heart and helping the children of Brazil have a chance to develop their love for the sport.
