Dhanushka's Kidney Transplant Fund

My name is Dinesh Fernando and I am raising funds for Dhanushka Cyril Nair. Dhanushka is one of my close friends with whom I attended St. Benedict’s College, Sri Lanka. I have known Dhanushka since grade three at St. Benedict’s College. Dhanushka is diagnosed with end-stage kidney failure and he is currently on dialysis, which is a treatment that is needed when your own kidneys can no longer take care of the body's needs. His nephrologist, Dr. Nalaka Herath at Ragama Hospital, Sri Lanka has advised him to undergo an urgent kidney transplant. Dhanushka has found a donor and he has completed the first 20 lab tests out of the approximately 40 lab tests that need to be completed before the surgery. Dhanushka will complete the remaining 20 lab tests within the course of the next 30 days. So far, he has secured LKR (Lankan Rupees) 1.7 million (approximately USD 9,444; 1 USD = LKR 180) out of the total estimated cost of surgery of LKR 5.5 million (USD 30,555). As soon as the remaining tests are completed and the funds are secured, Dhanushka will begin the surgery.

Dhanushka has two sons, aged 10 and 8, and one daughter, aged 6. Dhanushka’s wife is a full-time housewife and she is unable to financially support the family as she takes care of Dhanushka’s second son who is autistic and non-verbal. Thus, Dhanushka is the sole breadwinner of the family. 

Any contribution that you can make will lessen the burden that Dhanushka’s family needs to endure to complete his surgery.
