My 25 year old daughter, Shayna, was diagnosed with a rare type of brain tumor in November while spending some time in Arizona. She went to the Mayo Hospital ER with right sided weakness and difficulty swallowing. Following admission to the hospital, she underwent a 9 hour brain surgery by a neurosurgeon to remove the tumor. This lead to over 4 weeks in the hospital in addition to another 2 weeks of an intense rehab program of physical therapy, occupational therapy and speech therapy. Currently, she continues the battle by undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and outpatient therapy. Previously, Shayna was self employed as a very talented dog / cat groomer in Watertown. Unfortunately, she has not been able to work since November 18th and unable to qualify for any assistance since she was out of the state of South Dakota at the time and due to her self employment. This has not stopped all of the medical bills and the expense of continued treatment. We are very thankful to have been blessed with the overwhelming emotional support from her clients, her family, and friends .
