Moving mountains for the healing of My Mom Marlyn from Colorectal Cancer…
Back in the days when I was still young and a kid, I remember seeing my Nanay (Mom) and Tatay (Dad) constantly finding ways to earn a living. Job after job. Nonstop side hustles with pure hardwork.
Their daily routine was restless. All for our future. For their kids to have an easy life, for us to dream freely---to have a life that we want to live. They said, it is the inheritance/privilege they can only give. They proved that education attainment is not a hindrance to give their kids a deserving life...
Now, my parents are still restless. Restless to fight for a second chance in life...
We are halfway through our battle, and we have halfway more to go...

Diagnosis, Surgery and Treatments:
- April 10, 2025, Healthcare options in the rural area were limited, Nanay was rushed to the hospital in Manila (City) as her body is weakening profusely
- April 11-15, 2025, Nanay was admitted to the hospital. A series of laboratories and CT scans were made, and results were released. As the daughter and companion of my mom & dad in the hospital, I asked the doctors to tell solely with me the results. Nanay was diagnosed with colorectal adenocarcinoma cancer, Stage 3B-----This kind of news will haunt you and make you move mountains.
- The tumor is invasive in the lower low anterior resection near the uterus. At first, my sibling and I contained the situation hoping we could handle it all, protecting our parents from the worries mentally and financially. But, urgent surgery options are needed to be decided on. Nanay and Tatay were briefed on the treatments needed for the surgery.
- April 16, 2025, Ostomy surgery was scheduled for my Nanay to have a stoma to prevent further complications. With the unforeseen life happenings, Nanay masked her sadness and fears, but her eyes say all the worries she has for herself and for us as family.
- May 7, 2025 - July 5, 2025, diagnostics preparation and 25 cycles of radiation treatment were done to medically shrink the tumor.
