Adela's medical fund
Donation protected
My name is Chris Hoy. I am married to a lovely woman who is named Sylvia and together we have 8 children.
I would like you to meet Adela. She is the newest addition to our family. She is our eighth and final child and our second daughter. Adela was born at 28 1/2 weeks gestation and weighed a mere 1 lb 13 oz. She also has a heart condition known as truncous arteriosis, which in simple terms means she only has one artery that comes out of the top of her heart, and in order to survive she will have to have open heart surgery to repair her heart. However, she has to gain nearly 3 pounds before they can operate. Because her heart only has one artery it sends blood to places it shouldn't which ultimately saturates her lungs and is slowing down her growth, which in turn is going to prolong her stay in the hospital.
My wife has been staying at the Ronald McDonald house since Adela was born a month ago yesterday, and I have been trying to take care of the other seven children at home. Fortunately my parents came and helped out for a few weeks, but have had to go back home.
This is obviously a very difficult time for us both emotionally and financially. We are a single income family with a lot of children which means we consume a lot of food, gas, clothing, etc. I have never been one to ask for help, but right now I could use it. Our medical bills are rising everyday. Fortunately we have insurance to help cover our bills but the cost of traveling back and forth to the hospital and meeting deductible expenses is adding up.
Adela will be in the hospital for several months which means the medical bills will continue to rise. The stress of taking care of all of our children and having my wife staying at the hospital is affecting our family, our children's schooling has suffered because they aren't getting the attention and help that they need during this time. Any donations would be appreciated so very much and will be used to help pay for medical and family expenses.
Thank you so very much for reading our story. I am so very grateful for any help that can be given.
Sincerely,
Christopher P. Hoy
