Sophia and Lindsy have been an inspiration to me and others to watch as they have taken on the challenge of the pandemic and created an opportunity to dive into the unknown with both feet, not really knowing much about how to go about creating a "schoolie" out of a mini school bus, but having the confidence knowing that with their own resourcefulness, each other ,and the support of their step- father and dad, that they would make their dream come true. The dream to hit the road and explore the national parks , mostly of the western US. Watching the transformation of their ability to work together, use POWER TOOLS! and troubleshoot the many challenges that came up for them has been amazing. Any time I would make a suggestion, they had already thought of it and had come up with a solution! This journey, which began in the driveway of our neighbor Helen Grant who took care of Sophia as a baby and to whom we will always be indebted to for giving them the permission to use her driveway to rebuild the bus through rain , sleet , snow and heat, has been an example of the positive that has come out of such a challenging , sad, and difficult period in our history. As a parent, you always want to know that your children are safe . They have been so detailed oriented and have both worked multiple jobs to save money to pay for this trip and whatever might come up for them. However, when talking to them the other night, there was a bit of uneasiness about having enough money for gas. They figured they would use a credit card if it was necessary. Throughout the year of my bragging about their adventure to be, so many expressed excitement and a longing to do it themselves, or that it had been a life long dream. I hope they are an inspiration to all of you. A friend of mine suggested that I create this gofundme for their trip, that it would be a way to support them and be a part of their journey. It never occurred to me! But I figured, what the heck! If you would like to kick in a few bucks for a few miles of their roadtrip , it would be so appreciated. Gratitude is something else I have witnessed come out of this endeavor as well as a deepening in relationship. I know that this journey will change the trajectory of their lives. Thank you in advance! Go!Flora!Go!
