On March 14th, we will be traveling to Haiti on a medical mission trip. We will be accompanied by 18 others from Grace Community Church in North Liberty, IA. We have prayed about this, and feel strongly that God is calling us to be a part of this trip. The medical team will be made up of physicians, nurses, and other medical personnel. Not everyone on the trip, though, will have a medical background. Our goal will be to not only meet the physical and emotional needs of the people we will be serving, but also their spiritual needs by sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe that if we do not minister to people’s spiritual needs, we can provide a temporary physical service, but we potentially do an eternal disservice. Therefore, part of our group will be our discipleship team, and will focus strictly on sharing the Gospel.
During our time in Haiti, we will be staying in Port au Prince, Haiti, with the organization World Wide Village. This is a Christian organization, which sponsors short term mission trips, as well as provides means for many children in Haiti to get a Christian education, which otherwise would not be available.
We will be working in the small towns of Luly and Williamson, which are about 1 hour from Port au Prince. There is no medical services available in these communities, and many of the people have very limited resources to seek medical care if needed.
We are very excited to be going on this trip. We ask first and foremost for your prayers that God would be glorified in Haiti through our work. We also ask for your financial support. The cost of the trip for the both of us is around $3500, which will cover our airfare, lodging and food in Port au Prince, as well as transportation to the clinic sites.
There are three ways that you may give financially to support our trip. First is by giving on this site. Second is by sending a check to Grace Community Church- 2707 Dubuque St NE, North Liberty, IA 52317- and attach a note indicating it is for our Haiti fund. This is a tax-deductible gift (do not write anything in the memo line). The third would be by mailing to us directly – 2465 Ridgeview Way, Marion, IA 52302.
