God's Story in Seattle

Donation protected
Hello! My name is Millie Voigtlander. The last two years I have been on a journey of getting caught up in the Story of God here in Seattle. Almost ten years ago, in 2012, I had a vision of the Holy Spirit blowing like a foggy wind through this amazing city. Ever since, I have burned for Seattle to see an outpouring of God's Spirit. Two years ago I ended up moving to Washington and my prayers started to become an invitation from the Lord. I believe God is calling his people in Seattle to a place of prayer. We know as Christians we are to pray, but have we? This last year I have met with Pastors, Christian business leaders and faithful Intercessors across the greater Seattle area with one common theme arising. God is calling Seattle to prayer.

God loves Seattle. God has a plan for our city but first we must learn to return our hearts to him.

A couple months ago I had a vision of Jesus in the throne room of God. I was seated in front of him with a crown on my head and as I worshiped I noticed that next to me, as far as I could see, were other Christian leaders. It came time that we were suppose to cast our crowns before Jesus and as I took my crown from my head and threw it before God I only could hear a few other crowns clang on the floor. I quickly looked to see multitudes of leaders either asleep in their chairs, or white knuckled as they held their crowns to their heads. I then saw the eye of God searching the churches of the west coast. He was examining the leaders and I heard Jesus ask, "Where are my door keepers?!" He was looking for the leaders that would open the door to the throne room to the church.

I believe God is calling to a generation of leaders to learn to be door keepers. We have cried out to God for revival to come to our cities. We have banged on heavens door with no change. Could it be that Jesus is the one standing at the door to our churches knocking but with no answer? Have we looked to our programs and planning as the answer when the living God is ready to walk in if we simply learn how to turn our faces back towards him?

The Lord has placed a deep conviction on my heart to see the bride of Christ re-learn what it means to be a praying church, to behold God. I believe God desires to poor out his glory in Seattle. But he wants his peoples attention and affection first.

He is our first love. Yet, we have lost sight of him in our pursuit of many good things that come from him. This is my goal, to reorient our eyes to Jesus. To reorient my eyes to Jesus. My response to the Lord is to plant a House of Prayer in our city. A place for the collective body of Christ to come and behold the living God together. To give him our affection, to seek him, to learn to open the door to him. I believe God is also raising up churches across our city to be known as houses of prayer. Jesus, when cleansing the temple said, "let my house be a house of prayer." So I am giving my time to encourage and come alongside bodies of believers in this call of God in our city. I want to see churches that are described the same way Jesus described his house. I want to see a space dedicated to worshiping and praying God in Seattle.

In order to continue to partner with this story of God in our city I need to begin the process of fundraising. This go fund me is a first step in a long process of what this will look like. The $10,000 I am hoping to raise will serve to fund my living expenses for the next five months as I plant and fundraise for the House of Prayer and continue to grow relationships with leaders across the city.
