A Heart in God’s Hands: Help Us Believe for a Miracle for Alex

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for support for my brother Alex Showers who is 33, who is currently in the hospital battling serious health conditions. He has recently been diagnosed with congestive heart failure, with his heart functioning at only 35%, and medium regurgitation, making every heartbeat a struggle. On top of this, he is also dealing with type 2 diabetes and doctors have found three spots on his thyroid, adding more uncertainty to his health journey.

His fight with health issues has been ongoing since high school, when a severe injury led to a hip replacement. During that time, he also contracted a staph infection in the hospital, which affected his growth and left him wheelchair-bound for a year. Despite these challenges, he has always pushed forward, but now, his body is facing another uphill battle.

With his current condition, he was unable to work this week, and is facing possible work delay as he is trying to get better.

The medical bills are overwhelming. To ensure he gets the care he needs, he will be moving back in with our mom, who will be monitoring him closely. But even with her support, the financial burden of hospital stays, treatments, medications, and daily living expenses is too much to bear alone.

We are setting a goal of $10,000 to help cover his medical costs and essential care. Any amount, big or small, would mean the world to us and help relieve some of the stress so he can focus on healing.
