God is Great - Student Film

Hi there!

We are a group of students from the Northern Film School currently working on a short film project, God is Great, that we are all extremely excited about.

We are hard at work trying to bring this idea to life but we need your help to make God is Great as good as it can be! We cannot wait to share our project with you all.

What is God is Great about?

Set in the Year 1902, the young Yorkshire priest Robert is having an internal conflict after being confronted by the diabolic murder of a young girl in the Yorkshire Moors. Robert is struggling between what he is preaching and what he is thinking and feeling. The Film targets feelings of doubt and the questioning of faith. Robert needs to question his entire past and his own belief system in order to gain psychological peace.

Why are we making God is Great?

A word from our director...

Even though I was born and raised in a Christian environment and attended confirmation education, I don”t strongly believe in a god or the strong spiritual aspects of that institution. However, I believe in the aspects of an inclusive community, much like the one I grew up with. It was a very modern Lutheran congregation that did a lot for my local village and its people. Only in the last couple of years have I come to realise what religion can be and what it entails beyond its symbolism and decades of institutionalisation.

In "God is Great," I want to closely examine a person who has been shaped by their church and the guidance of their clerics. I aim to explore how a situation looks when a rigid, unmovable entity like this massive institution collides with human trauma that requires close contact and personal attention. It's the contrast between the everlasting church and us, delicate organisms, that fascinates me.

How can you help?

We're putting our hearts and souls into this project, but we also need funding to make our dream a reality. We are asking for your help in the form of financial aid - every little bit counts and will help us move closer to our goal. Any support would mean the world to us.

We also have hopes of entering this project into festivals and competitions, but we cannot do it without your help.

Where will your donation go?

The raised funds will go towards cast & crew transportation, catering, professional actors, set design, props, hair & make-up, as well as entering festivals and competitions.
