"This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." (Psalm 118:24)
Sitting in the ER in August 2015, my mom, (affectionately called "Coco,") immediately responded with this verse after learning that the cause of her pain was due to the tumor in her liver bleeding. Also, treatment of her Stage IV melanoma (metastasized to her liver and lung) was not working. Thankfully, the bleeding stopped; but all standard treatment options have been exhausted. She was first diagnosed with cancer in 2001 and has been fighting it since its return in February 2014.
We are thankful for the additional days that the Lord has given to her and we hope these continue with a new treatment option: Salicinium. This promising IV treatment out of the Netherlands not only could be a chance for her, but we pray that it could bring awareness to additional options for Stage IV cancer patients, as it's not widely used in the US. Learn more about it here: http://goo.gl/hkqWbO
Unfortunately, insurance will not cover the costs. We would like to start the 3 week treatment as soon as possible, ideally between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
My family treasures the love and support that we have already received in warm meals, encouraging words, and most of all: prayers. Our "Prayers for Coco" facebook group currently has 267 members. We are thankful for every person that has touched my mom and pray that she continues to reach out in Christ's love to those around her. To God be the Glory!
