Chasing Gold at the Senior Games: Be Part of My Team!
As I turn 60 this May, I'm embarking on an exciting and challenging journey to compete in the 2027 Senior Games, and I'd love for you to join me!
My name is Audrey Bernstein, please join me on this adventure as I train to compete in the 2027 Senior Games and USTA tournaments. My journey is about more than just personal achievement; as I navigate the recent loss of balance due to neuropathy which I developed last spring, I hope to inspire women of all ages to live life to the fullest, pursue their passions, embrace fitness, and challenge their limits. By supporting my journey to the Senior Games, you'll also be contributing to a message of empowerment and possibility for women everywhere.
Interestingly, in the 1990s, I transitioned from a challenging lifestyle in NYC to the mountains of Vermont, where I discovered snowboarding. Through hard work and dedication, I achieved a world ranking of 7th! This experience instilled in me the belief that any goal is within reach. I'm channeling that same energy into the competitive world of tennis.
The road ahead involves one year of intense training to qualify in 2026 for the 2027 Senior Games.
I'll need to place in the top 4 of my age group at a qualifying State Senior Games in 2026 to secure my spot at the National Senior Games in 2027. This will be followed by another year of preparation for the Games themselves in Tulsa, Oklahoma. That means serious training starts now!
The National Senior Games Association (NSGA) is a nonprofit organization that champions the benefits of competitive sports and active aging for adults 50 and over. Their massive biennial event showcases the incredible potential of active seniors.
This endeavor is deeply personal, but with a broader aim to inspire women of all ages to believe in their capabilities, no matter their age! For me, this journey has become even more significant as I navigate the daily changes in my nearly 60 year old body and neuropathy. These new challenges underscore the importance of adapting and finding strength within ourselves to continue pursuing our goals.
I understand there are many important causes in the US and World right now, and while my journey isn't a matter of dire need, I believe that even, (or especially) in challenging times, witnessing the dedication to a personal goal can offer a source of strength and inspiration.
I'm reaching out to my community for support. Your contributions will be invaluable in helping me cover the essential expenses such as coaching, training clinics, tournaments, travel and lodging for USTA and Senior Games tournaments. In addition to community support, I am also actively exploring potential sponsorships to help offset these costs, although I understand that securing them can be challenging, especially as I am just starting this journey.
Every donation, large or small, will directly fuel my training and competition efforts. Together, let's demonstrate the power of passion, dedication, and the enduring spirit of a woman and an athlete at any age!
In appreciation of your support, I'll be sharing exclusive updates on my progress, behind-the-scenes glimpses into my training regimen, along with fun tennis, fitness, health and beauty tips.
And if you're in the area, I'd be delighted to hit a few balls with my amazing supporters!
Here are more ways you can be part of my journey:
