Bekah's Lyme Disease Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Rebekah is a fun-loving, passionate, and caring wife and mother. She is an energetic go-getter who loves animals and the outdoors.
For years, Bekah has been fighting health problems. She has been misdiagnosed with chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, adrenal fatigue, dietary problems, and infections, and has had several doctors dismiss her symptoms, saying, "Of course you are tired, you're a mother!"
Finally we have an official diagnosis: Lyme disease. It is a blessing to know what it is she has been courageously fighting for years. Now that the doctors have a clear sense of what she is fighting, she can finally receive the medical help her body needs to become healthy again. Unfortunately, OHIP does not cover Lyme disease treatment, and the Lyme-literate doctors with the most expertise are located in the United States.
In the past year Rebekah has spent over $7000 in medical costs. She has been off work while raising her daughter and two step-daughters with the loving support of her husband, JP. She has had to cancel her wedding celebration and family plans, and has been bedridden far too many times due to this disease.
We are so hopeful that recovery is just around the corner. Rebekah is going to meet with a leading Lyme disease expert in New York. It is a 12 hour bus ride away, and the first appointment alone costs $900 US before any treatment can be administered. It can take several years of intensive treatment before chronic Lyme disease can be healed.
We are looking for generous support from people who love her and want to support her in her journey to recovery. Any donations we receive will go towards the treatment and transportation costs she will incur over the next few years. One of the most difficult aspects of this disease is how isolating it can be. Let us show her that she has a community of people who care for her!
