Goat-Fund Me. Small Farm Business needs love!
Relax, we goat this! has been our motto since April 29, 2017. Today would be our 3rd birthday as a burgeoning small business, in the booming metropolis of Nashville and its surrounding rural agronomy.
Today we learned that our doors will remain closed until the end of May, at a minimum. We've now been closed March and April. What would have been our busiest part of the season, where we make the bulk of the money we need to operate the 12 months out of the year are swiftly passing us by...we are trying to not freak out, but we're freaking out.
Our business phone has been shut off, we need $698.00 just to pay the past due amount, so it can be turned on again. The big corporations that did get funding are eating those of us that have received nothing in fees and fines and we are helpless to do much but let it happen.
*so far, we've not received any aid, no stimulus, no unemployment, no small business loans... nothing, we are too small to be noticed, and too big to just disappear without a fight.
Today, I worried, same as most days, but this worry is pitted in the base of my stomach. I can do nothing about my circumstance, except admit that I am in it, and try as best I can to not diminish my need, as I compare it to so many people around me. I am healthy, my animals are healthy, what a blessing is that already!
I am soooo blessed. So it is with this in mind that I am asking for help. I am asking for my herd, for my dogs, cats, donkeys, chickens, sheep, and most of all for the goats.
It's not Badger or Milo's fault that the world is crumbling, or that Serresto collars cost $70.00 each, and I need that x 5. That's just the cost for my working dogs and cats at the farm.
Our rent at the studio location we maintain is due for April, May, and by the time we open again we'll have paid for at least 3 maybe 4 months of empty space. I'm not protesting the closures, I agree with taking every precaution necessary to save lives and I have nearly 100 animals at the farm that we provide feed, medication, & fencing/housing maintenance. Those lives depend on me.
Not a single one of our employees has been granted Unemployment benefits, despite my best efforts to access system resources and work on their behalf. Antiquated computer systems, and employment systems not set up for independent contractors or even self employed individuals. I want to be able to send some type of bonus or payment to those individuals that have filed and need assistance...assistance that should be there without all the burning hoops! We support 20-30 independent contractors each year.
I suppose if there was an overwhelming abundance of goat love in the form of money, I'd get my hay barns filled up...because that is what farmers do in the summer months and I'm wondering how to keep the gas tank filled let alone the hay loft.
Hell, if we go over the top and reach $1,000,000.00 then I guess I'd retire and go into politics. There's a few politicians I'd like to knock out of their seats, and if the good people of the world speak up and nominate me in the form of financial backing. Well then, I volunteer!
But really, we're in a pinch, and we'd like to grow another inch, but it is seeming down right impossible right now.
Shenanigoats, LLC turns 3 Today...will you help us make it through this thorny patch so that we can view 4 as even a remote possibility?
What we will spend your generous donations on:
*Feed, supplies and resources for 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 donkeys, 3 chickens, 13 sheep, 67 goats, 2 humans (the small scale team working without pay).
*Rent, home, farm, and business all have back rent due, we're getting swallowed up whole.
*There are about 10 employees that deserve a bit of Shenanigoats love, for being the most kick ass staff and goat herders, they are literally the G.O.A.T.
*Me - I haven't received a paycheck in over 3 years... yeah, I eat, sometimes buy something I want or need. I've been heavily investing in this little company and farm that I love, hoping it would support me. Now I'm just hoping I can hold onto it until we get to the other side of this tragic event.
About Us-- Shenanigoats is a Queer owned and operated family business that specializes in working with goats. We started in 2017 as a landscaping and brush clearing business which quickly expanded into goat yoga and therapy thriving in Nashville's popular tourist scene and among goat loving locals.
Whatever help you can give, whether it is $5 or $500. Just know that there are some little goats out here just jumping for joy and one stressed out farmer wondering how the hell we are going to pull this off!
We need a miracle!
The Goat in Me, honors the Goat in You!
