Hi, my name is Atylda, I am 11 years old and
was born with a rare genetic disorder called knobloch syndrome that effects my vision.
I was diagnosed legally blind at the age of three. I struggle to see past six meters and Can only see detail when I’m 10cm away from something. I am learning to read Braille and have support with cane training and orientation and mobility as my vision will slowly deteriorate.
I never thought that I would get the chance to compete in athletics at a high level Until one of me teachers told me that my 100m sprint time was good enough to try out for the para-athletics northern regional track.
I did so well that I was selected for the northern representation 10-12 years track and field team in the multi class events for sprints and long jump. Everyone is very excited for me.
I am trying to raise money for my family and I to go to Brisbane in October so I can represent the northern team and hopefully make the invite to state for the Queensland para athletic team. Please help me by sharing my story.
