In July 2019, the life of the Daly Family drastically changed. Atsuko was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive uterine cancer, Leiomyosarcoma, which was surgically removed. In March 2020, doctors found metastatic tissue in her left lung. She underwent surgery again to remove that and received chemotherapy from May through September 2020. She remained strong and hopeful. Despite the treatment and her positive attitude, cancer came back again in March 2021, spreading to her right kidney, bladder and lower pelvis. Now she is undergoing another, more intense chemotherapy, starting on March 22nd.
In order to ensure that Atsuko receives the best care, they have elected to move to Houston for the duration of the treatment period, which is anticipated to extend through July. In order to alleviate a portion of the financial strains that the Daly family faces with treatment and relocation, we are reaching out for your help and asking for any degree of support you can kindly provide. This will allow them to focus on the best path forward for Atsuko's treatment, recovery and future return to good health.

2019年7月、悪性進行性希少がんの軟部肉腫が敦子の子宮に見つかり、デーリー家の運命が大きく変わりました。手術で完全摘出するも、パンデミックの最中の2020年3月に肺への転移が見つかり、再び摘出手術を受けた後、5月から9月までの5か月間、抗がん剤治療を受けます。苦しい副作用に耐えながら、前向きに希望を捨てず頑張っていた敦子は、2021年3月、希望をくじかれる再発を知らされます。右腎臓、膀胱、下腹部の3箇所に広がる軟部肉腫のさらなる転移を止めるため、敦子は3月22日から再び抗がん剤治療に入ります。今度は、前回よりもきつい薬で投薬頻度もかなり増やし、転移した腫瘍を小さくした上で、手術で摘出することを目指します。
稀少がんの治療はヒューストンのがんセンターの専門医に頼る必要があります。デーリー家の住むダラスからヒューストンまでは車で片道5時間の距離なので、通院治療は困難です。敦子が最善のケアが受けられ、家族が常にサポートできるよう、デーリー家は治療期間中ヒューストンに短期移住することを決めました。治療は当面は7月末までの予定ですが、治療費や移住に伴う経費による経済的負担は少なくありません。デーリー家にとり、経済的な心配を最小限に抑え、家族が敦子の治療と回復に専念できるよう、さらに一家がまた普通の生活に戻れるよう、デーリー家の友人として皆様にサポートをお願いします。皆様からの温かいご支援、激励、ご厚情に感謝しつつ、皆様と周囲の大切な方々のご健康を心からお祈り申し上げます。
