Please help us to show Nick how incredibly proud we are of him!
Nick has joined the US Army and he left for Basic Combat Training four weeks ago. (On his 35th birthday) He's always wanted to serve his country and now he's doing it! He is working so incredibly hard!
I've spoken to him three times since he left; twice for 2 minutes and with his last call he was allowed to talk for 8 minutes! :) Everytime we talk he sounds more and more sad. I know he misses his family VERY much!
At graduation the new soldiers come marching accross the field. Afterwards they stay in formation until a family member comes forward and gives the Drill Sergeant their soldier's name, he then calls them out. I absolutely cannot bare the thought of him just being left standing there with no one to 'claim' him. He deserves SO MUCH more!
He graduates on December 3rd, he believes that the kids and I will not be attending graduation (we cannot afford the trip for all five of us on our own - We're in Hawaii and his training is in South Carolina) and he says that's okay. But, I know how much it would mean to him to have his family there! I want to give him the greatest, bested surprise of his life!
If we can reach $5,000 the kids can go too!
After Basic Training he will go straight to Advanced Individual Training (AIT) for a further 6 months.
PLEASE spread the word and, if you are able to, help us to give him this AWESOME gift. It would mean so much to him and he means the world to us!
Thank you!
