As we all know, Alyce Sorokie wears many hats. She provides the inspiration, the knowledge, the space for us to transform in a manner that is uniquely personal and edifying. But it is the massive love she holds for our journey that gives us the strength to move through the nuances of self-discovery. Alyce has dedicated her life to all of us. She has taken endless hours to explain, handhold, consult and console. We have laughed with her (oh that sense of humor!), and we have cried with her.
Alyce, on behalf of all knowing and non-knowning people that believe in the transformational power of alternative healing methods, fought an expensive yet crucial and game-changing battle. On April 2012, The State of Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation initiated legal proceedings against Alyce and Partners in Wellness and consequently issued an Order to Cease and Desist the unlicensed practice of medicine and pursuant to Section 3.5 of the Illinois Medical Act of 1987 was subject to $10,000 for each offense and considered a Class 4 Felony. The State of Illinois deemed colon hydrotherapy a medical procedure! On January 2013, Public Act 97-1141 (5ILCS 80/4.23) was amended, and she/we were victorious. Alas, the lost income (her very lifeline) and the legal and administrative costs has bought Alyce near professional and personal financial ruin. Collectively, we should—we must share the costs of this ordeal with the warrior that bravely fought this arduous, gut-wrenching battle: ALYCE. So yes, Alyce is a healer of audacious capacity. She is an author, a business owner, an inventor, a consultant, a warrior etc. But none of this explains Alyce fully, because Alyce is a beautiful, true expression of unconditional love in our lives. Alyce is family—family of the highest order. She has nurtured and cared for us. Let us now return the support she has shown each of us. Be generous, she certainly has been; tell your friends!
