Hi, Naghmeh here.
I'm Whistler's human for the last 4 years. He is a sweet jack Russell Terrier who loves to play and hang out with humans.
About a week ago, without any warning, he started to vomit quite frequently in the middle of the night. He couldn't keep food or water down for about 24 hours. I contacted a vet and we kept an eye on him and he seemed to be doing better. He recovered his energy and was eating and acting normal. Then he got sick again. Then was ok. Then again. At that point, I knew something was really wrong.
I didn't except when I brought him to the vet that they would detect a foreign object of about 3*5 cm in his stomach. I first brought him to his regular vet, who told me they can't perform an endoscopy, but they can bring him into surgery a few days later. I decided to get a second opinion at the hospital where they had internal specialist that felt more confident they can remove it with an endoscopy. But after they redid the scan on him (at emergency clinic prices), they didn't sound so sure. I got a phone call this morning saying that he will need surgery. The whole thing will cost me between $5.500-$7.000. All of this has been happening too fast, and I have already paid roughly half of this to the vet and they move him into surgery as I write this. I don't want money to be a factor in taking care of my best friend, but these numbers are setting me back pretty hard. We need help.
I'm very aware that this sum is astronomical and I don't expect to be able to raise the whole sum. But after I posted a message on instagram, I received so many warm notes from people and I realized that Whistler and I aren't alone. I thought to ask for help, and to start a gofundme. Any amount raised will directly help us get back into the groove of our normal life, and to handle any unexpected costs that may come up from having a stomach surgery.
Thank you for reading about our story. Thanks for considering contributing to his medical costs.
With love,
Whistler and Naghmeh
