Go Fund My Classroom for the 2024-25 School Year!

Hello everyone!
My name is Corryn Lachance and I am an Elementary School Teacher in the state of Maine. I will be going into my fourth year of teaching 3rd grade, and love working with kids very much. That being said, as most people know, teachers are very under-paid professionals. Although my school district does give me a budget on a yearly basis, the amount doesn’t cover the expenses of what a calm, comfortable, safe, and resourceful classroom environment requires.
This year, I will be placing monthly Scholastic Book Orders in order to be able to send home a free book with each student every month. I work in a low income, high poverty area, and some of my students don’t even own a single book. I would love to be able to help them build up their “home libraries” in any way I can. The cost of each book per student is $2. I will have 24 students on my roster for the upcoming school year, and would like to send them each home with a new book September-June.
I am a big believer in positive reinforcement and my classroom system involves frequent rewards for positive behavior. Rewards we have partaken in as a class in the past have been fun things like ice cream parties, slime making parties, arts & crafts, sledding in the winter, pizza parties, etc. Like I have previously stated, I work in a low income area, and opportunities like these during the school day has the ability to hugely impact the social/emotional well-being of these kiddos. Of course, all classroom rewards need to be earned by students, which makes the rewards even more special to partake in as a classroom family. Unfortunately, my budget does not cover the materials needed to put these rewards into place, so I have to pay for these out of pocket. Any time our classroom runs out of extra snacks, paper towels, disinfectant wipes, tissues, hand sanitizer, etc. (the list goes on and on), I have unfortunately had to pay to restock (unless a kind parent is willing to donate, which has happened several times in the past and I am so grateful for this ). I teach eight and nine year olds, and they go through classroom supplies like you wouldn’t believe.
I have retreated from making Go Fund Me pages in the past, as I have tried to stick to the budget as best as I can, but it has been challenging, especially since I am just in the beginning phases of my career. All of that being said, if you are at all interested in donating money to support the needs of my classroom (described above), that would be greatly appreciated. Small donations go a long way. If you are unable to donate at this time, trust me, I completely understand! I figured I would try this out and see if it may be something I would like to continue with in future years of teaching. Thank you so much for considering donating to my classroom funds for the school year of 2024-25!
