After graduating from Ohio State University in the 1960's Gary Lewis was drafted by the army. He served a mandatory four-years and re-enlisted for two more. Upon being honorably discharged Gary received a national defense service medal, Vietnam campaign medal, bronze star medal, and a meritorious unit medal just to name a few. In 1980 Gary suffered a stroke affecting his speech and impairing his mobility. If you've traveled south of Seaside you may have seen Gary on the sidewalk outside of Avamere greeting passers-by with a smile and a wave. Unfortunately this was taken away from Gary 3-months ago after his wheelchair broke and has failed to be replaced by the VA. Our goal is to get Gary back out there by Christmas!
