Hi, my name is Wendy, but you might know me better as Wendell from “The Wendell and Victor Show,” which, despite its short run, brought avant-garde programming such as “Wendell and Victor Interview the British Chick” and “Wendell and Victor Get Pulled From The Air Because The Program Director Has No Joy In His Life.”
We had a short run, as obviously we were too ahead of our time for a small liberal arts college seated squarely in Amish country.
I hung up my broadcasting hat, for the most part… but Victor, my partner in crime and both the brains AND the beauty behind our show, ditched her former air persona, reclaimed her birth name of Vicki to celebrate her brand-new start, and hopped a plane to Nome, Alaska, to dazzle the Western seaboard with her musical talents and dazzling wit.
Alaska suited Vicki well, and in due time (and in no particular order) moved south to Ketchikan, met her partner in crime Eugene, had a half half-dozen of charming kiddos, bought a house, discovered a dinosaur, joined a band, ran some races, saved orphans from a burning building, and did Lots More Stuff.
Ok, maybe I embellished that a tiny bit. But in all truth, Vicki and Gene are two of the most wonderful, caring people that I know. And you know how bad luck seems to gravitate to those that really, REALLY don’t deserve it. Well, they’re so awesome that Murphy’s Law had to hit them with major structural failure to their house, AND a detached retina that required a medivac to a state not as groovy as Alaska (Gene), AND a trip to the ER for a shiny new diagnosis of diverticulitis and some emergency surgery to top it all off.
Murphy is a jerk.
Friends, if you’ve ever had the chance to meet Vicki, Gene, or one of their terrific kids (CJ, Gen, and Ziggy) you know what lovely people they are, and how much they love their community. Let’s give them some of that love back… please give what you can to help alleviate some of the stress of the house repairs AND the worry that comes with medical issues (not to mention the medical bills themselves, ugh).
And if you can’t give, then send them some words of encouragement, and please spread this fundraiser around. Thank you!
