Documentary on Youth and Nukes
Donation protected
Young people have been calling for states to ban nuclear weapons for several years. These young people have heard the testimonies of the survivors of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and are dismayed about the outcomes of several international conferences on nuclear disarmament, where states have yet to negotiate a ban. As a result, they created Ban All Nukes generation, an international youth platform on nuclear disarmament.
BANg has been convening a series of projects on becoming activists in the struggle for a world free of nuclear weapons throughout the world, including a successful project in Nayarit, Mexico during the second conference on the humanitarian impact of nuclear weapons.
Following a successful project in Nayarit, Mexico, where young people expressed their views on nuclear disarmament, several intend to go to Vienna to inform the public about nuclear disarmament, attend a civil society forum, and a governmental conference.
To help highlight this movement, BANg is interested in organizing a large public action at the Heldenplatz, where we will invite the public to ride a mock atomic bomb. We will also distribute pamphlets about young people people's views on nuclear disarmament. We will also film young people actions in Vienna and their impressions about banning nukes.
After recording their actions and impressions, BANg will send the footage to a producer in Costa Rica.
The producer will assemble the film and edit it. Once the film is completed, we aim to show it at a civil society conference in New York and convene an exhibit at the NPT Review Conference.
