Kristy Tkacik Vicente was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. After finding a lesion, she went to her primary care who started her on antibiotics. Her doctor asked if she was okay with that, but knowing her family history, Kristy wasn’t. She was sent for a mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist told her she had a large mass consistent with cancer but needed a biopsy. The next day she went for a biopsy and then shortly after heard the life-changing words that she had breast cancer.

Kristy has a long road ahead of her. She starts chemotherapy next week which will continue into the spring. In April she will undergo a double mastectomy followed by radiation. Nathan and Michaela know Mom will be sick for a while, but she will do everything she needs to to get better.
