On Saturday, September 28th, my cousin Mona received the kind of phone call no mother should ever get. Her 22-year-old son, Jack, was the victim of a brutal assault in the Fenway area. He was found unconscious in the street, bleeding heavily from his face.
Jack suffered multiple facial fractures and a traumatic brain injury that caused a dangerous brain bleed. He underwent an emergency craniectomy to relieve severe brain swelling and was placed in a medically induced coma and stayed in the ICU for several days. After 10 long days at BIDMC, Jack was transferred to Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital, where he is now facing an incredibly challenging and uncertain recovery.
Jack will need to undergo another major surgery—a cranioplasty—once the swelling in his brain subsides. His recovery will take time, strength, and the support of everyone around him.
We’re starting this fundraiser to help ease the financial burden on Jack and his family as they navigate his long road to recovery. The funds raised will go toward medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, travel, and the everyday living expenses that come with caring for a loved one recovering from a traumatic brain injury.
Jack is kind, hardworking, and full of life. He has an amazing sense of humor and a big heart that has touched everyone who knows him. We’re all devastated by what happened, but we’re determined to help him heal and rebuild his life.
Any donation, no matter how small, will make a huge difference. If you can’t contribute financially, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word. Your love, prayers, and support mean the world to us.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
Jack’s Family
