Hello, my name is Delores (Dee) Eastwood, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart and hope in my soul. My wife, Val, has been battling not one but two rare types of bone marrow cancer: MDS and Multiple Myeloma. We live in Nichols, NY, and for the past four years, Val has been under the care of local oncologists. However, recent test results revealed complexities beyond their expertise, leading us to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, NY.
For the last four months, we’ve traveled back and forth to Buffalo for countless tests and consultations. Val’s condition is so rare that a team of dedicated doctors has been working tirelessly to determine the best course of action. The conclusion: she needs a life-saving bone marrow transplant. This April or May, Val will undergo this critical procedure, requiring her to stay in Buffalo for at least two months. As her caregiver, I’ll be by her side every step of the way.
Unfortunately, the financial burden is overwhelming. Between medical bills not covered by insurance, travel expenses, lodging, and food, we are struggling to make ends meet. We’ve explored every option for affordable accommodations near Roswell Park but haven’t found anything within our means. Even the most affordable option—$50 per night—adds up quickly over two months.
As someone who has never been comfortable asking for help, I find myself in a position where I have no choice but to reach out to you. Your support—whether through donations or prayers—means the world to us. Every little bit helps lighten this heavy load and allows us to focus on what truly matters: Val’s recovery.
Please consider donating or sharing our story with others who might be able to help. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading and for any support you can provide during this incredibly difficult time.
