My name is Myla and I am raising funds for my family members who are currently in the hospital in the Philippines battling COVID-19. We had 7 family members admitted in the hospital. Sadly, we lost 2 of our beloved relatives in the past 11 days.
On July 24, 2021, our uncle Rudy Reyes was rushed to the hospital due to fever, coughing and signs of altered mental status. He was admitted for possible COVID.
The next day, our grandmother Rosita Reyes had to be taken to the hospital due to fever, diarrhea, loss of appetite and weakness. She was also admitted for displaying COVID symptoms. Later that same day, our aunt Norma Reyes had to be taken to the hospital and had to be admitted for fever, loss of appetite and weakness as well.
Tests, x-rays and swabs were done and they all tested positive for COVID and pneumonia as well.
As the whole family is still in shock and at a loss, our uncle Rudy Reyes’ status took a turn for the worse. He suffered cardiac arrest and they were able to revive him. But after only a few hours, he passed away. As the oldest son, he stood as the leader of family and he was always willing to help any family member in need.
Our grandmother Rose and aunt Norma, were both unaware of our Uncle Rudy’s passing as they were both in a very crucial state as well.
On July 27, 2021, another uncle Albert Reyes was taken to the hospital also showing COVID symptoms. He also tested positive for COVID and pneumonia so he had to be admitted.
Last July 29, 2021, our cousin Roy along with his sister Jonamay and her husband Edison was taken to the hospital. All tested positive for COVID, however, Roy and Edison are also positive for pneumonia. Thankfully, Jonamay was allowed to quarantine at home—however, Roy and Edison had to be admitted.
We are asking first and foremost for your continued prayers for our family. To say that we are having a challenging time, is truly an understatement. We have been gathering funds together within our family but we still incurred a steep financial strain.
The funds donated will help cover the mounting medical bills of Our aunt Norma, Uncle Albert, Roy and Edison. They undergo daily hemoperfusion on top of various medications needed.
Roy needed to be intubated last August 2, 2021. We were hoping that he would be able to overcome this hurdle.Heartbroken as I write
this, Roy passed on the morning of August 4, 2021. He was one of the most favored uncles among his younger nieces and nephews.
He found his purpose through loving and taking care of them.
Our family never really went out during the pandemic. They always followed strict guidelines even inside their own homes. They were very careful especially when they would check up on each other, they would follow stringent protocols and wear masks and face shields.
They were all anticipating to get vaccinated when this happened.
This fundraiser was established as we have a lot of close friends asking how they can be of help during this dire and devastating time. As mentioned previously, besides your continuous prayers, this is where we need the most help.
