Shadows Fund

Our Pet pig "Shadow" was hit by a car this evening.   He and his brother have never left thier yard but while our familiy was outside with them they heard a horn blow and saw that the piggies were across the road.   Of course,  my son called them and as they ran back across another car was coming and clipped the back end of "Shadow" sending him tumbling down into the ditch.  The car did NOT stop despite seeing children running across the front yard!

We rushed shadow to LSU Ag center Vet hospital and he had wonderful vets helping him.  Everyone instantly fell in love and said they never met such a sweet pig.   At first, after an ultrasound and initial x-rays,  the farm animal vet said his vertebra was fractured but not fully broken, yet still in need of surgery.  After convening with the small animal specialist who does many back surgeries on dogs, we were told that he needs additional CT and other scans to determine if there is spinal fluid leaking.  Shadow can move his legs if they are touched but cannot stand.  At this point he is sedated and we must decide in the morning what we will do!  We were told that we must come up with $5000 to start surgery, which is the low end of the estimate, the high being $7000.  We are heart broken over this.....what initially seemed a possibility now seems hopeless! 

If we are unable to meet the goal, any funding donated above what we must pay for his care to that point will be returned or an option to send to another animal in need.
