Dear Friends,
On April 25, a devastating earthquake of 7.8 magnitude struck Nepal. The country has not experienced an earthquake of this magnitude in 80 years and the lack of emergency preparedness coupled with poor resources has left Nepal in a dire situation. More than 4000 souls have lost their lives (death toll continues to rise by the hour), many more trapped under the rubbles, thousands of family and loved ones have been reported missing, numerous world heritage sites, historic temples, property have been destroyed to the grounds. But above all, the people who have made it through this destruction and are currently camping out on the grounds, with limited supply of basic food, water and shelter are beginning to lose hope while they wait in terror of the next aftershock.
Nepal has declared a state of emergency and we need ANY and EVERY HELP possible at this point. I have set up this page with my humble request to donate towards the relief efforts on ground in Nepal. The money that you will donate on this site will go directly to an organization (GMIN) and they have members that are currently on the ground already helping with relief efforts. Below are some information that will help you understand our contribution to this effort:
WHO GETS THE FUNDS?
The money will go to GMIN Nepal http://www.gmin.us/ which is a 501 (C) 3 registered nonprofit organization that supports and initiates Grassroot movement in Nepal focused on bringing sustainable social and environmental change in Nepal. GMIN will personally coordinate the relief effort.
WHERE WILL WE FOCUS OUR EFFORTS?
GMIN aims to extend help to people who have been affected by the earthquake. Many villages in Nepal need help. With your help and support and involving local people in Nepal, GMIN would reach out to people who are in dire need of your support.
While the media and international aid continues to focus on relief efforts in and around the major cities, it is the villages that have been hit the hardest and continues to suffer behind the shadows. We divert our efforts and help the people in the villages.
WHAT IF I HAVE A QUESTION?
If you have any questions or concerns regarding our plans or want to help us in any way, please don’t hesitate to contact me ([email redacted])
Thank you for your contribution and please keep us in your prayers
